Clare and the Reasons performed as special guests at a talk/jam session given by a McGill professor, producer and author of "This is Your Brian on Music" David Levitin at the 92STY on Wednesday night. I didn't stay for the entirety of the event...if Clare and the Reasons had performed more than one song though, I just might have. Where did this band come from and why were they guests of David!! The mind reels...I'm in love and embarking on some research into the band, but while I do there's no reason to deprive you of some tunes I've stumbled upon.
Don't get me wrong, David and Adam Gopnik of The New York Times have great chemistry that obviously bellies a collegiate friendship, but I would have liked a little more performance/story-telling, and less two very intelligent music heads geeking out on stage. (David let it slip that he had spent the previous evening getting guitar lessons from Paul Simon and had had songwriting help from Joni Mitchell...whhaaaattt??? Tell me more, fellow Alumni!)
